EDMI, leading Smart Energy Solutions providers, has recently opened new gas research and development facility in Dunfermline near Edinburgh, officially inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Scotland, the Rt Hon Alistair Carmichael MP. The new facility will boost company’s business in Europe and across the globe. The new development facility will act as cutting-edge research and global development centre for EDMI's smart gas solutions, which will cater to a larger number of ultrasonic gas meters. The ultrasonic gas meter is smart meter technology which measures gas flow rate with high accuracy and precision, and is increasingly being adopted globally and China in wide range of application such as Onshore and offshore applications, Cryogenic gas and custody transfer.
The smart meter rollout supported by EDMI aims to install 53 million meters in as many as 30 million homes and small-size business enterprises across Great Britain by the end 2020. EDMI, is said to design and supply the communications hub for the northern region. The hub will enable effective communication with electricity meters, gas meters, and the In-Home Display (IHD) enabling consumers to monitor and measure accurately and precisely the energy usage.
