A power plant in Russia, has saved gallons of water with corrosion inhibitor reported ‘Penn Energy.’ Samara’s Volga based gas – fire power unit, claims to have saved up to 1.3 million gallons of water every year and have cut down on the water consumption. The corrosion inhibitor by GE has enabled the power plant to save approximately $ 120, 000 each year. Industry experts eyeing the global and Chinese corrosion inhibitor industry, 2009-2019 indicate that GE’s TEC VAZ VoTGK had played an eminent role in reducing the copper corrosion rate by nearly 20 times.
Similarly, the inhibitor has also decreased the copper amount that was earlier discharged into Volga River. Commenting on the achievement the general manager responsible for chemical and monitoring, Kevin Cassidy said “It takes a lot of water to produce energy and water is a precious resource. By reducing the amount of corrosion, the TEC VAZ VoTGK power plant was able to also meet environmental regulations by not discharging copper into the environment and reducing the use of 1.3 million gallons of water annually.”
To honour its significant decrease in water consumption and reduced copper corrosion, GE recognised VAZ VoTGK. The corrosion inhibitor was awarded the Ecomaginaton award, which appreciates the awareness among industry leaders for maintaining a perfect balance between Mother Nature, industrial as well as sustainability threats. Many industries are seen considering copper inhibitors worldwide including China.
